Default How many photos needed in total?

We are filing the following package:I-130, I-485, I-864, I-765, G-325A. And possibly I-131 as well. According to the instructions of these forms we need

1 photo of my husband (USC) and 1 of me (UKC) for the I-130
2 of me for I-485
2 of me for I-765
2 of me for I-131

So in total we need to submit 1 photo of my husband plus either 6 of me if we file without the I-131 or 7 of me if we also file I-131.

Is this correct?

Thanks

Don't look at the total number. Just take each form as a stand-alone application, and submit the number of pictures required for that particular form. The instructions for each form are pretty clear about how many photos are needed for each one.

Do you mean that I need to keep the photos separate as well? i.e. attach said number of photos to each individual form, rather than grouping all the photos together in one place in the overall binder containing all the forms?

Yes... that's exactly what she means. Treat each application form as a separate submission - attach what you need to each application.

And then bundle it together:

I-130/attachments/evidence, I-1485/attachments/evidence, I-864attachments/evidence, I-693, I-765/attachments, I-131/attachments. The check goes on top. One check covering all, i.e. I-130, I-485, biometrics.

You will need duplicates of some of the supporting evidence, i.e. marriage certificate, photos, evidence of commingling of financial and social lives, etc.

That's correct. But don't submit everything in a binder. Just use a bulldog clip to hold it all together. I've heard the workers there hate tearing apart binders, and all that work you did putting it together will be totall undone in just a few seconds!

That's very interesting! I had actually bought binders and indexed dividers just for that purpose. And was going to use a punch hole type binder where the whole thing becomes book style, you can turn over /flip the pages and you can open/close the binder at any place to take our papers. So they hate that? Just bulldog clip everything together? Wow! What about separators and an index?

No, don't add any of that extra stuff. The package is torn apart in a mail room and sent to various offices.

Thanks all. You saved me a lot of unneccassary work. I've read all the threads that came up in the "binder-boy" search and the only thing I'm not clear about is what to do with photos and checks:

For photos, Folinsky says in one thread that he uses clear envelopes (sheet protectors) and clips the envelope to the form - so that they don't get lost. Should I use a clear sheet protector or a clear envelope?

Cheques: Someone posted somewhere that they write a single cheque for the total and put it to the top (front) of the whole package and possibly even - again- in a clear envelope or sheet protector. Several people suggested to me in my thread to write a single cheque also. However someone also suggested writing a cheque for each form and clipping it with that form. Logic being that the application gets split up and the forms get sent to different rooms.

So what's best for cheques or a cheque and photos?

Thanks

jm,

OMG, who helps you decide what you should wipe your butt with?

I vote for baggies, 1,000 for $1.00 at Odd Lots. Use the extras for sandwiches.

The baggies are for the photos, not your butt, btw.

Regards, JEff

There is not just one set way of doing things. You can write multiple checks, or one check. You can put your photos in clear baggies, sheet protectors, or no protector at all. You can even go ahead and put all your information into a binder, we were just letting you know from past experience that it all gets torn apart anyway.

For the record, I've written both multiple checks and one check, they both went through fine. I paper clipped the check to the first page of the application it goes with. I put the passport style photos in ziplock baggies and paper clipped them to the application they belong to.

Charmin is the best in my humble opinion! Wouldn't use anything else if I can help it- even if recommended by USCIS..
