Just wondering how long it takes to get the little "receipt" or any other indication
that INS has our AOS paperwork....They received the package (according to the Post
Office) on June 24 and I have nothing indicating they acknowledged receiving it. I'm
in Wisconsin and mailed it to the Milwaukee Sub Office.
Take care!

Hi Jeff,
We too submitted our I-130 & I-485 AOS package to the INS Charlotte NC office on
6/18/02. We have conf (from the Post Office) of receipt on
6/20/2002. To date we have had no further reply or indication from the INS either. We
are eagerly awaiting for some response and of course for the EAD and AP.
My question is probably the same as Jeff's...how long do we wait for a
letter or response from the INS before starting to worry or contacting
them? How do we follow up and who would we contact if we don't hear
anything back?
Thanks all for your input.

we submitted our AOS papers May 20th to the NYC INS office and still havent't heard
anything. No real receipt except one little yellow piece of paper that they cashed
the money order. I don't know how to inquire about my status without a real receipt
number but I guess I will write to the INS anyway. I tried calling the INS Customer
Service Number 1-800-375-5283 but the automated response told me I had to contact my
local office. They told me that I'd find the number on my receipt but it is not
listed on the fee receipt I received from them.
Does anyone know what this receipt number is they are talking about and where I
can find it?
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

I don't really have an answer for any of your questions but I wanted to say how nice it is that someone is going through AOS in Milwaukee only a few short months before we will have to as well. Expect lots of questions Jeff =).
Best wishes,

Have they cashed your check? That was how I knew they had it. I received my interview
date, advance parole, and new EAD about 3 weeks after I mailed my I-485 package to
the Washington, D.C. office.

my checks have not been cashed yet so I guess I'll wait a week or two.. and then try
to contact someone.
