How long to wait before initiating a service request on my pending 485?
My wife and I interviewed in September 2008, and the adjudicator told us that he would let us know his decision 30 days from the date of the interview. It has now been almost 120 days, and there has been no update on the petition in the case status online service, and I have not received a Request For Evidence letter (to my knowledge).
My attorney told me that, in his experience, situations like mine take about 6 months to be resolved (after the interview). He also advised me not to make a service request with USCIS, since the adjudicators take offense at being "badgered." Also, the USCIS processing times page has not been updated since September 30, 2008, so I have no means to determine whether my case lies within the normal processing window for my field office.
What are your thoughts? What should my course of action be? Has anyone here had a similar experience? If so, what did you do?

Here in Los Angeles, we legal types have been told not to make that InfoPass appointment until 180 days have gone by. In fact, if we do, the info rep won't do anything unless we point out an emergency of some type.
