Default How long does it take you to get the EAD card?

Hi, Guys,
I submitted I485 together with application for EAD card and Advanced
Parole. USCIS received it on July6 and notice date is July10. I have
done the fingerprints and received an interview appointment for late
september.
Right now, I am waiting on the EAD card to start working. Do you guys
know how long it takes for the EAD card to arrive after the submission?

Thanks.

From one to 90 days after the biometric appointment. Sorry there is no way to be specific on a timeline.

As Rete said, no way to predict a specific time you'll get it. If you don't get approved for your GC at your AOS interview, then make sure to go in 90 days from when you had your EAD biometrics, and request an interim EAD, if yours hasn't show up yet.

Best Wishes,
Rene

Hi:

Its a matter of straight arithmetical computation -- you have the date of application, the date of biometrics. You don't yet have the day of receipt of the EAD. However, once you have the EAD, you can compute the length of time.

BTW, as a matter of law, CIS has 90 days to adjudicate the EAD. CIS interprets the 90 days as beginning on the date the biometrics are taken. IMHO, this interpetation is "ultra vires" -- but CIS is often known to ignore the law for reasons of "policy."

Is that a relatively new interpretation? Seems like not too long ago, the
90 days began on the receipt date of the NOA for the I-765. When did it
change?

When my wife did it in 2004, she got her temp EAD 91 days after they
received her I-765.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot for the quick responses. I wish the USCIS is like this.
I received a receipt for I-765. But do you get a notice of approval
before you get the actual EAD card?

Thanks again.

Hi Bella,

You might get an on-line notice of approval, or on-line notice that the EAD was mailed out, but you won't get anything in the regular mail regarding your EAD, until the actual EAD shows up.

Check out the uscis updates, and you'll get I-765 Approved notice. Plus there was no message saying that the card was mailed or anything.
I waited 12 days and i got my EAD [Very Happy now]

Good luck

Hi, Airborn,
Do you mean you got your EAD 12 days after the online I-765 approved
notice, or 12 days after your biometrics?
How long did it take you to get the online notice after your
fingerprints?
Thanks. Sorry to ask so many questions. It's because I am on an unpaid
vacation now because of the unarrived EAD card. I want to have a better
estimate when I can restart working.

Thanks to you all.

I got my card today so I am happy as. Mine was filed on April 1 so it has been a while. There seems no logic to the length of each case. My approval letter came in the post yesterday and the card today. Even though I e-filed I got no online confirmation. I had my biometric on July 17th so relatively short wait that side of things. Biggest advice - be very firm in getting what you want. At first I was a bit timid and it was only when I got much more direct that anything really start happening.

Good luck!

Congratulations! Lucyporter!
But could you tell what you meant by being more direct? What did you do
to speed up the process?

Thanks,
Bella
