How long do we have to wait ....

Waiting Time ?
We have an I797 approval notice from Oct 2002 and still awaiting some sort of feed back from the embassy for paper work or an interview , on upon calling the premium rate number in London they informed us that have not received any notification from the usa..
Being very anxious previously I had sent in the completed paper work part 250 ect to get things moving. resulting the paper work was sent back informing that they have not received any notification
Does anybody have and idea how long it takes them to cable the information over the embassy also how to file for a provisional request via email e.g. who do I contact via email?
We know that we could send the orignal I797 but i dont think that would be a good idea
