My fiance's petition has been approved on january 30th and i received the notice of action on february10th. i have heard that the k-1 visa go directly to the consulate without going through the national visa centre and also that the cable will be sent the same day they approve the petition. but the chennai consulate in india says, it hasnt received anything yet. they also say they can not open a provisional file based on the approval notice. i dont know whether vermont service centre really sent the consulate or if the consulate is saying they havent received anything. i wonder where the gap is. where is the approved petition right now?

it takes from two to six weeks for the file to reach consulate after nvc forwards it. now where all it goes in between that..god knows.

I heard from my U S Rep's office that all K1's have to be cleared through Chicago. Could this be a possibility for the delay?
