Default How do I notify the USCIS of incorrect information?

Hi all.

Hubby just became a permanent resident recently, and in the process of going through paperwork, I've discovered that the USCIS has hubby's social security number wrong. This is not their fault, I realize now that we put the wrong number down on the original I-485 - it's off by one digit. I discovered this when trying to find out if hubby was registered with the Selective Service (maybe you saw my other thread) and found out that in he is... only with the wrong SS#.

Anyway, I've looked all over the USCIS website for information about how to notify them of this error, but the only detail I see about "corrections" is misinformation on the Green Card or changing your address. Is there a miscellaneous form we can send in? Or am I doomed to waiting on hold for 3 hours with the customer misinformation line (I'm on hold for 15 minutes now as I'm typing this)?

I'm a bit annoyed with myself for making this error in the first place, and I'm not entirely certain how crucial it is that the USCIS have the correct number anyway - our tax returns were completed correctly, the only place it appears to be wrong is with immigration, and now the Selective Service.

Can anyone tell me if this is a big deal or not?

Thanks.

Write a letter to the office that adjudicated the case. Include hubby's
"A" number prominently on the letter. Provide the correct information.
Keep a copy of the letter you sent. That's all.
