Ok, I know this may seem like a stupid question, but how do I find out
which service center is processing my I-485 application so I can check
the processing time?
I filed in May to the Chicago office, and yes I know it's early to
start thinking about this, but my husband really wants to know. We
have already received our travel documents (i-130) and EAD (i-765) so,
i'm just curious about the other one. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Same here. We sent our papers to the Chicago lockbox. I got an RFE (for the supplement of the I-693) from the office in Lee's Summit, MO. We live in Nevada.

Check www.uscis.gov for processing times at your LOCAL district office (i.e. the city where you'll have your interview). That's where you'll get an approximate date of your interview.
Best Wishes,
Rene

Right, I suppose that's where my real question is. How can i be sure
which office is my local district office. I live almost exactly
between two of them, so I'm not sure which one would be handling our
case. Is there anywhere I can check that out? Thanks!

Go here: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/alphaa.htm
Find the 2 that are nearest to you, and read the section that says "Service Area" for each one. That will tell you which one will be yours.
Best Wishes,
Rene
