Hi There,
I'm a Christian-Egyptian living in the states and would like to know if
I'm required to register part of group 4 between Feb. 24th and March 28th.
I'm a 30 years old male and I came to the states in the late 80s on a
Tourist Visa. I was approved for asylum in 1997 and applied for my Green
Card in late 1998. Few months ago I was called to be fingerprinted in
preparation for my Green Card interview. I was not given a time though and
was told it will take around a year for my interview.
Now, group 4 instructions say that if you have an asylum application pending
on January 16th 2003, you don't have to register. What do they mean by
pending here? Does the fact that I'm waiting for my Green Card interview
means I stil have an asylum case pending? Or since I was granted asylum
before January 16th 2003, I have to register? It's a little confusing for
me.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks and God Bless.
Mack.

I posted an answer to this same question on 01/31/2003. If you didn't see
it, check groups.google.com (it's there). If you did see it and you want
another answer, fine with me.
