Help needed.
Hi there everyone.
This is my situation. I moved over here jan05 to marry my fiance. Went through all the right channels, K1 visa etc. Got married in mar05. To cut long story short I fell into a hopeless despression, hated living abroad, all I wanted was to go home. Woke each morning utterly miserable. Got so bad I couldnt even leave the house. Went to a shrink and it just made it worse. Finally about 4months ago I tried anti depression tablets and bingo! I was cured and now love it here. I have to lift the conditions on my green card, it runs out in december and so I have to send paperwork in september, its to make sure we are still married. Now my wife wants to split up and to be honest after putting up with her temper for so long I really dont mind. But I want to stay over here. Are there any options for me? I recently had a job but it finished and I should be starting another one in a few weeks, so at the moment I'm potless. Is my case hopeless or are there avenues for me to explore? Any help will be greatfuly recieved. |
Re: Help needed.
my advice would be stop taking the meds.
then you'll get depressed again and want to go home. and you'll be going home after the divorce and happy about it. |

There are zillions of threads on this over in the Marriage-Based Visa forum! :) PS: I hear St. John's Wort works for depression, though I have no personal experience. |

If the latter's due to the meds, you should face up to the fact that you shouldn't rely on medication just to be able to tolerate living in the US. There are probably avenues to explore that you have to identify yourself and pursue. |

I could be missing something but after you mentioned getting married on a K-1 you don't mention your spouse again until you mention lifting conditions? Is it the US that you don't like or your spouse (or a combination of both)?

People do put down roots after a couple of years, and he's perfectly in his rights to seek to stay here independant of his USC. |

Not at all! Some depressive states are eased with a short bout of mood enhancing supplements. I don't think that being depressed always means a need for long-term medication, or that if you stop, you revert right back to where you once were, necessarily. |
