Hi!
I was wondering if anyone out there could help me in my blight! I'm British and living in Britain, my boyfriend is American and we've started to talk about marriage. The problem is I live here and he lives in Louisiana. Because of his job it's going to be more viable for me to make the move there, the problem is the vast maze that is the red tape you have to get through. That and the helpline cost £1.50 a minute! Still can't believe that one!
The fiancee visa form seems simple enough to fill in but it's the process, we don't know where to start. Can anyone please explain the process to me in basic terms, any advise from anyone who has been through this would be greatly appreciated. Would like to know things that length of process, can I work, best way of doing this, etc.
With much appreciation!
Lesley

start at www.txdirect.net/users/mike38/faq_index.htm. A lot of reading but cant be avoided. Yous sound as if you are thinking of a K1 fiancee visa approach. If so, once you have researched it on that site, a lot of help (and comfort lol) can be gained from this NG.

1st Notice of Action July 9, 2002
Request for Evidence sent from InS November 29, 2002
December 5, 2002 received RFE...and the INS made a mistake!
Dec. 5 & 6th faxed the RFE to congressman's office and the INS, got advice from attorney's and INS counselor's at area agency.
Still waiting.....
I have been communicating with this congressman's office and with this area INS agency (international institute) almost every day. First things first, have your fiance' get the forms and start filling them out.
Good luck-T.
