Help - change of address
Hi all and I hope you can help out here. If not, at least it will feel better writing this down. So, here is what has happened so far. I got my conditional residence in June 2007 and was just looking in to what to send to remove conditions last night as the time has come around to do that process. I check my mail today and see that I have a letter from Homeland Security reminding me of this very fact.
However, to my horror it had the yellow Post office label on when mail has been redirected. I moved address in December but fully remember sending the form to register my change of address, but stupidly I didn't record it Now I know for sure that I sent it but it may have gone astray in xmas mail or even at the HS office I guess. Is this going to effect my removal of conditions? I did act within the 10 days, but obviously it is only my word now.
Any advice would be appreciated.

As for the I-751, you'll be using your new address on that form, so all correspondence thereafter should come to the address you list on the I-751.

Re: Help - change of address
Thank you Noorah, but am I not in trouble now? It is only my word now saying I sent it on time and after three months from my move the I-751 reminder went to my old address which seems to suggest it never reached them.

I am surprised you got an I-751 reminder, actually! I think you are the very first person I've ever seen to get one of those. What does it say?

If you filed AR-11, you did what you are supposed to do.
If you filed I-751 on time and with your current address, the address change will now be recorded in *that* database.
99% of people don't report getting that reminder letter; that was very nice of them to do that for you.

This is what I got sent:
Notice of requirement to file joint petition to remove the conditional basis of an alien's permanent resident status
The records of this service indicate that you entered the United States as a conditional permanent resident on 6/29/2007. In accordance with Section 216 of the Immigration and Nationality Act you must file Form I-751, Petition to remove conditions on residence. Failure to do so may result in the automatic termination of your status. You can obtain Form I-751, as well as filing information and fees, from www.uscis.gov or call 1-800-375-5283.

If the 6/29/07 date is correct, you can submit the I-751 anytime between 3/31/09 and 6/29/09. Don't send it off any sooner... and whatever else happens, don't send it off late!

I'm stunned... in my 11+ years of dealing with immigration and participating in this forum and its predecessor, I have *never* heard of anyone gettting a reminder from USCIS to file form I-751.
