Have anybody heard about this "new" procedure for filing 485?
Hi there,
My I-140 (EB1/ORP) has recently been approved and I'm in the process of filing 485. I
sent all the requested information to the lawyer (Fragomen, which has a contract with
my company). Today I got a message from the paralegal saying that INS has implemented
a new system which requires the lawyer to confirm with INS that the applicants are
going to do AOS in the US. Once the INS OKs it, then they can file my 485. According
to her that will typically take about 2 weeks. While browsing this newsgroup and
other immigration resources on the web, I have never come across such "new system".
Are anybody out there aware of such new procedures? Thanks in advance.

I filed I485 3 months ago with the same law firm and they never mentioned that. It is
possible the INS changed stuff, but why don't you just ask the paralegal. In my case
they hqve been really helpful and diligent.
