I'm an American, near Detroit. Has anyone successfully married a Romanian girl and
brought her back to the US? My girlfriend is in RO. Think it's better if I go there
and marry her, or get her in the US somehow and marry her here?

Thanks, Bob

Even though Romania was not among the FSU states, most of their names rhyme well
with "FSU" !!

Anything special about Romanian girls that makes you ask this ? When Chernobil blew,
the wind was going towards north and east. So she'd have probably escaped the ill
effects of that.

You can both go somewhere neutral and get married there as well.

Yes - it has been done. And the fastest way appears to be going to Romania and
marrying there and filing at the consulate. See this website
http://www.mindspring.com/~docsteen/...o/visainfo.htm accept the disclaimer and
go to the section called DCF Choose Your Visa You will find a recent experience there
and lots of great information. Take Care. Shelley

I'm Hungarian, I married my husband here, but I was told by lawyers, that it would've
been easier to apply in my country, because only the obvious nature of a smaller
country: things get processed faster. Your wife would get the green card much faster
outside the US.

Good luck!

Default ???

What are you talking about? What are FSU states? I don't know if you know anything about Romania, but most of their names are like Maria, Laura, Mihai, Razvan, Aron, Stoian, and so on. Know things about countries before you talk about them. Just a suggestion for the future.

You forgot Ioan.
FSU=Former Soviet Union

But for the OP, check out also http://www.kamya.com/intro/dcf.html#RO

and don't forget to do a google groups search.

DCF is far and away the fastest way to get the Magical Green Card (I miss Bodecea!) if you also really really want to be married.

I think she was referring to family (last) names, like the old leader..
However, I know a famous gymnast whose name doesn't sound like that.

So, realistically, I only remember 2 famous last names, and only one
would
"rhyme" with FSU. BTW, FSU is "Former Soviet Union". While Romanian
wasn't part of FSU, I do believe it was part of the Warsaw Pact. Of
course, this isn't really relevant to this newsgroup. Regarding the OP,
I think he was more concerned with how getting married before or after
immigration affects the visa process.
