My wife is a US citizen from birth, at a young age was adopted into a British family. She has retained her US passport but has been residing in the Uk for the last 21 years.
We we both would like to move over to the states and start a family, careers etc.
We we are a little confused to the process involved to do this legally and efficiently.
Can anybody speak from experience in how we would be best to move forward with this.
Thanks

As Nutmegger noted, and I have asked a moderator to transfer this thread, your questions are best posted and answered in the US Marriage-Based Visa forum
Your wife can file for your immediate relative visa at the USCIS in London and you will ultimately petition and interview for the visa at the US Embassy in London. It is a multi-step process and even though you will be doing direct consular filing, it will take 5 to 8 months to get your visa.

Read our Wiki and other threads in this forum that refer to "DCF", which means the USC lives in the UK and files an I-130 petition directly there.

Has your wife been filing her US tax returns? If not, she needs to do so.
