I am a US citizen, and my girlfriend entered US as a tourist without the intent to
get married. Now that she stayed with me for several months we decided that we want
to get married. I read that if we get merried here than she can be deported when
adjusting the status. Is it true? Is it really concidered a fraud?
do we really have to go though the K-1 process.
Please help.

Plenty of information on this site (accept the conditions and then choose the tourist
adjustment option):
http://www.mindspring.com/~docsteen/...o/visainfo.htm
From what you've said you'ld be a fool to go the K-1 route.

No - it is fraud if you enter the US on a tourist visa with intent to immigrate to
the US. If your fiancée has been in the US more than 60 days, then it will not be
problem to adjust status - as long as she had no major health issues or a past
criminal record. Also, you should try to marry and file the paperwork while she still
has tourist status - to avoid any overstay issues. Another good resource in addition
to the one Andy gave you is the I-130 Immigration Help Site
