getting married in US on B2 visa
Hi there !
I'm a belgian citizen living in Brussels. Last year I met a girl from Miami. She's a
US citizen. I already visit her 4 times since April 2002 and I come back also in
October and then in December for the wedding in Miami. After the wedding we already
plan to come back in Brussels and to live here together. So I'm not going to stay in
US and we'll apply for the AOS after one year or more, we don't know yet... there is
no rush ! I never had problem at the POE in Miami but I'm really scared about that...
I take all my papers with me (renting, bank account, job...) but never asked me! Do
you think it could be a problem ? and what could I say if they ask me ? I everytime
said I'm coming to visit a friend that's it !
Thanks a lot !
Fabian

Re: getting married in US on B2 visa
Why do you need a B2? Can't you enter on a visa waiver? When you apply for a B2, they
ask if you have a fiance. IF you have a B2 or a waiver, you should be able to marry
in the US. However, if INS knows you are planning to get married, they may expect
that you will stay in the US. Be sure you have a lot of documentation about your work
and other reasons to return to Belgium.
Whatever they ask, give them an honest answer. But.. do not volunteer answers to
questions not asked. If asked why you are here. You are here visiting.. Do not
volunteer that you are here to get married..
