Default Getting Married with a J1 visa

I am in J1 visa not subject to the 2 year recidence.
I want to ge married, is there going to be an issue changing my
status?
I want to quit my job after I get married, how long after I get married
will I be legal to quit the job that gave me the j1?

thank you for your help

It shouldn't be an issue changing your status.

After you marry, you will apply for EAD along with AOS. It takes about 3 months to get your EAD.

Assuming you have found the love of your life that you want to marry and he/she is a US citizen... Sure why not, get married, file for AOS and once recieved by USCIS, your staus will be 'pending adjustment through marriage', after which time then you can leave your current job that you are doing which is linked to the J1.

Like Rene said though, once you leave the J1 job, you will not be able to work until you have filed for, and receieved employment authorization. BTW, you file that form with all your other AOS paperwork before you quit your current J1 job.
