getting GC stamp

When the GC application is approved (I-485), can the beneficiary have
the option to request to put the GC stamp on I-94 instead of passport
or vice versa?

If GC stamp is put on I-94, what happens to I-94 if a person goes
outside the country with advance parole before actullay getting the GC
card? If I-94 is taken away when leavign US, then would the person
gets another GC stamp on the new I-94?

If GC stamp is put on passport, what happens to I-94 if a person goes
outside the country with advance parole before atullay getting the GC
card?

When the stamp is put on the passport, the I-94 is taken from you when you go
for stamping. The I-94 is irrelevant when you become a permanent resident.

If the person granted LPR status does not have a passport the stamp would be
affixed on the I-94 as a proof of authorized admission as an LPR. If a
passport is available the stamp woulf be placed there!

The I-94, with stamp showing proof of LPR status, will not be collected when
the bearer leaves the US. It would be the bearer's temporary I-551 card and
would serve the same purpose as the actual I-551 "Green Card".

A person granted LPR status do not need advance parole to enter the US. He
must, however, have in possession proof of LPR status in the form of an
actual I-551, a temporary card (I-94 with LPR status stamp), OR a passport
with the same stamp in order to be allowed back into the US without applying
and paying for a waiver( I-193) fee.

In fact, a person who holds U.S. permanent resident status *cannot legally
use* advance parole to enter the U.S.

Thanks both Sylvia and you for the explanation; AT the time, I
figured that LPR refers to permanent residency.

What does LPR stands for?

The green card stamp is placed on the arrival portion of an I-94. Only departure portions are supposed to be surrendered when you leave. Another queation would be if the country you're going to will admit you without a passport.

I see. "L" stands for lawful. I never thought there is such a thing
as "unlawful *permanent* residence" to differentiate from permanent
residence that is only given through legal process.

Right now, there a millions of UNlawful Permanent Residents living in the
US. Some of them are overstays and EWIs (Entry Withount Inspection). If the
law did not include the word "lawful" to the term, technically those who
have maintained abode here in the US for quite a while are Permanent
Residents.

I understand that there are people staying without illegally. I have
hard time considering them as *permanent* residents. But because they
make this place home, the word "permanent* is used though they are
subject to removal, i.e. deportation.Or it's just my misunderstanding
(of English usage).

The country will allow it; with the travel permit, I can apply for a
visa to enter the country just like any other LPR of US.

Thanks for bringing that up; I just went to the website of the transit
country I must stop on my way or on the way back for that info. My
oldest brother lives there and an obligation to stop and visit thim.
It's not written clearly. I need to call the consular office. If a
valid passport is required, I will wait till I become a US citizen
since I can't afford to keep renewing my passport.

All this time, I was thinking that when the GC stamp is placed on
I-94, it would be placed on current I-94. Silly me. Now I realized
that a new one will be issued (with the current one surrendered). Am I
right?

Matrix said "If the person granted LPR status does not have a

authorized admission as an LPR. If a passport is available the stamp

situation such as a refugee arriving to US.

What about the person with expired passport during AOS process.?

I am renewing my passoport but the extension I get will probably
expire just before my GC interview or when approved. This government
do not give long length.

I recently found out from a political asylee (from the same original
country as I am) that his GC stamp was placed on his expired passport.
Same for his wife. That could be because they were asylees. In my
case, beign non-asylee, if the passport is expired, will I get it on
I-94, on the arrival portion? Or will I miss getting a GC stamp? I
want to be prepared so that I will not miss out on getting the GC
stamp.

Another question: Just looking at my I-94 departure record portion, I
wonder whether this "Departure Number" (used to be called Admission
Number, in my first I-94) will be used in future I-94 when I am a US
resident. Do LPR and citizens of US also fill I-94 everytime they
enter US?

You could probably get a visa for the transit country placed in your travel document.

"What about the person with expired passport during AOS process.? "

I'm not positive, but I suspect they'd place the GC stamp in an expired passport because GC holders don't need a valid passport to enter the US. The passport validity requirement applies to non-immigrants. Other countries have their own rules.

"Now I realized that a new one will be issued (with the current one surrendered). Am I right?"

They will issue a new I-94 arrival portion and discard the departure portion if they choose to issue the stamp on an I-94 form.

"In my case, beign non-asylee, if the passport is expired, will I get it on I-94, on the arrival portion? Or will I miss getting a GC stamp? I want to be prepared so that I will not miss out on getting the GC stamp."

They'll stamp something for you. It will most likely be the expired passport. Tell them you need to travel.

"Do LPR and citizens of US also fill I-94 everytime they
enter US?"

LPRs and US citizens do not complete I-94 forms but do complete customs declarations. The admission number will not be reused and is of no concern once you adjust.
