Default Getting Divorced

Hi guys,
Been in the States 13 months with my American wife. We are now getting divorced, my green card is for 2 years, so i have around 12 months left on. What happens now that i am getting divorced, and how wil it affect my status, and what steps do i now have to take as i want to remain over here.

If your divorce is final before the expiration date of your 2-year card, you need to file form I-751 with waiver, to remove the conditions on your green card and obtain the 10-year one. After the divorce, you do not need to wait for the 90-day window normally given to file...you can file it as soon as the divorce is final and you have the divorce decree in hand. You will need to include proof that the marriage was entered into in good faith. Some people hire an attorney to do an I-751 with waiver, so they can present the best package necessary for approval.
