Hello,

I have a GC and I'm living/working in the USA. I'm thinking of going overseas
(India) to get married. I've heard that it can take over 3 - 4 years after
marriage for my wife to come to the US and live with me. I would like to know
how I can bring my wife over so that she can live with me in the USA - I'm not
too concerned about her getting her work permit/green card right away. I just
want her to live with me! (ie: how can I bring her to the USA while we wait for
her GC processing?)

If there is no way, is it easier for her to get a visitor's visa, come live here
for 6 months .. go back to India .. and came back again? Please email me at
[email protected] Thank you..

- A student visa
- visitor's visa for 6 months
- wait till you get your citizenship and then sponsor for her GC. Anybody knows any
other choices?

In this case, would it be easier for her to get the visitor's visa? What are the
chances that she is denied a visitor's visa? If she is denied what are the other
choices? Appeal process? Thanks...

I would think it would be rather difficult for her to get a visitor's visa from Indian to the US if she has a husband living in the US. You are right about the spousal visa taking up to 5 years for her. I believe you are a Canadian citizen aren't you? With a green card from the US? Are you an Indian citizen as well? Why not look into bringing your wife into Canada instead as then you won't have a quota system to deal with and the wait should only be a year.

Don't believe there is an appeal if a visitor's visa is denied. She can always try again with additional proof of her ties to India.
