Can someone give me some advice in regards to how to find a good relaible immigration lawyer in the USA.

I dont quite know how to phrase this but I was wondering if there was anything in particular I should look for when trying to find a lawyer. I dont have a huge amount of money available and anything I spend needs to be spent wisely.

Are there any nationwide free legal advice centres? I am in West Virginia, and would like to consult with a lawyer but am not sure wehere to start, I thought I would ask before I start googling

You can try Catholic Charities if they have it in your area, or do a search for free immigration legal aid.

Or, go here: www.ailalawyer.org, and start making some calls to see who can do either a free consultation or an inexpensive one.

It helps if you know exactly what your goal is, so you can clearly tell the lawyer your own current immigration situation, and what your ultimate goal is.

I'm in WV myself and was in pretty much the same position as you this time last year - needed a quick (free if possible) consult with a good immigration brief fortunately we found help at the WVU College of Law Faculty - which operates a free clinic (dependent upon available finances I think) dealing with immigration law

I couldn't recommend them highly enough. Bob Whitehall is an adjunct Instructor there (great guy, knows his stuff. Chair of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the AILA. You can check him out here : http://www.frof.com/Attorneys/Attorney.aspx?id=2034 ) Although he's based in Pittsburgh he made the journey to the Law Clinic 3 times to discuss our case with us )
