Don't agree that a tax treaty is required to claim the foreign earned income
exemption.

To take the Foreign-Earned Income Exclusion one must pass either the Bona Fide Residence Test or the Physical Presence Test for the country where the income was earned.
You've written and repeated that there must be a tax treaty between the US and the country, and that tax on the income must have been paid to the country, in order to take the Foreign-Earned Income Exclusion.
Not true for the Physical Presence Test. That's why I mention it. One can qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion under the Physical Presence Test without a tax treaty with, without having paid tax to, the country where the income was earned.

Why are you talking about the physical presence test? That was not even mentioned. That is not a requirement if you are living in the UK and your USC spouse is living in the US and filing joint taxes.
