Wow, I can't believe I'm here again! This is Lynn, of Arvid and Lynn, Can/Am couple,
K-1 "graduates", happily married over 2 years and getting ready to file our I-751. I
don't think anyone will recognize me but I was happy to see some familiar names
still here. After re-subbing tonight and "trying" to read through over 29,000
posts...ack...I didn't see an answer to my question so, here I am, bothering
everyone once again. So...just how exactly do we prove we've been a legitimate
married couple all this time? I've got the affidavits from friends, car titles in
both names, ins. papers with each other listed as beneficiary, income tax returns,
on and on...I guess my question really is, do I have to send in 2+ years worth of
bank records and utility bills in both names...that's a LOT of paper and copying! It
was *much* easier when we did the AOS and only had a few months worth of stuff to
work with, now we've got years worth! Thanks in advance for any help and advice on
how to simplify this (if that's even possible)...I don't want to overwhelm the INS
employee that gets our envelope!

Lynn

Lynn, I would just send in a "sampling" of those bills and bank records...for
instance, send in one from every 3 months' period, and that will cut down the volume
while still laying a paper trail that shows consistency. Alvena

Hi Lynn, It's good to see you back!! Welcome!! As usual Alvena has given you sterling
advice. And don't forget to check out the "remove conditions" link on Doc Steen's
site: http://www.mindspring.com/~docsteen/...o/visainfo.htm I had conditions
removed on 19 Dec. 2001 and I'm going for Naturalization in April of this year. See
you around. Ranjini

Hi Lynn

Nice to see you back again. Hope all is well with you and the Canuck ;-) Have your Yankeeized him yet? ;-))) What I wasn't able to do to assist my Canuck in adjusting to life in NY, the Guard did after the 11th of September.

We won't be eligible for removal of conditions until May. After reading so much from others who have gone through this I d/l the instructions and forms and am amazed that they seem to require more than the original AOS interview did. Oh well. We don't have 1/2 of the stuff they are requesting. No joint savings accounts. No joint bills for phone or utility. No joint car titles...two cars...two individual owners.

Follow Alvena's advice as she has been there and done that and successfully. It is my understanding the more information you send them, the least likely you are to be singled out for an interview.

Good luck and best wishes.

Cathy (CAN) and I (US) were here a while ago too, and we just mailed our I-751 out
last Thursday. Hard to believe the two years are almost up already!

We made a packet of:

I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence A copy of Cathy's 2 year Permanent
Resident Green Card Copies of joint tax returns for 2000-2001 Original notarized
letter from 2 people (US citizens, with contact addresses and phone #'s) stating that
we are an vow keeping, God fearing, undeniably married, certifiably nutzoid couple ;
) Copy of mortgage papers, showing joint ownership, filed last month when we
re-financed for the 3rd time, since we built our love nest in 2000 Copies of Cathy's
Michigan Drivers license and her pictured employee ID card/with a copy of her
employment contract Copy of our cruise tickets, showing both of us as cabin-mates, to
the Caribbean, with a sail date of February 9th, 2002 Copy of Cathy's medical/dental
records showing me as the insurance carrying spouse dated in December, 2001 Copy of a
Golf/Country Club membership card, with her married name signature, valid for 2002

All of the above enclosed in a 9" x 12" manila envelope, sent Certified Mail, receipt
acknowledgment requested.

Hi Alvena!

Thanks for much for your (always) great advice! You've made a great point, 4
pieces of paper for each utility bill/ bank record per year is a lot better
than 12! We'll do that. Thanks again!

Hi Ranjini!

    >

Thanks! Wow, I'm remembered here! (Did I cause problems back then???) <LOL>

<smile> And I don't know how she does it either. I still get a lot of
questions from people checking out our Can/Am timeline webpage and I have to
be really careful, already things have changed since Arvid and I were going
through the K-1, etc.

I did find that but he doesn't mention utility bills or bank statements at all
on it. Everything else, but not those.

Woohoo! Congratulations lady!!! Isn't it something to have made it that far? I
know for us, back in the days of pulling together everything for the K-1,
Naturalization seemed so far off...now we're going to be there this time next
year! Unreal! (Time flies when you're having fun, eh?)

Hi Rita! Wow, someone else remembers me, I'm in shock! <LOL>

Oh it is, we're doing just fine!

Oh he's a stubborn one, that's for sure! I think his biggest "Yankee"
discovery is still all the rock music from the 70s that he didn't hear in
Canada. Believe me, our CD and mp3 collection has grown by leaps and bounds!
And also he's still not over all the choices available in our grocery stores,
he's like a big kid in one!

Oh my, I guess that would do it pretty darn quick!!!

That's my thing, we don't have a lot of the things I've seen others
submitting. The house is only in my name, it was my parent's, we have no
mortgage or loans, no vacation plans, no children born of this marriage, etc.

We will. We sure want to avoid an interview if we can help it!

Thanks! I'll keep Jim in my thoughts with him being in the Guard too!

Hi Mike!

So true. But it gave me a weird feeling in my stomach to dust off the box of
our immigration paperwork when we were getting ready to get started on the
I-751. Already, all those "Are we going to make it past this hurdle?" feelings
came right back again.

<LOL> I had one friend threatening to write just about this same thing!

<snipped list for space>

Thanks for typing out the list of what you two sent
in. I can see there are varied ways of submitting this proof, that makes me feel a
lot better!
