Hey, people!!
I attempted for the second time to change my name with SS yesterday. Last time, I was turned away as I hadn't filed for AOS and my name wasn't updated on the SAVE system.
I put my SS-5 form, passport, marriage certificate, and INS receipts showing my name change on their system in front of her, and she said that all she could do was get a card in my maiden name, or wait for BCIS verification, which could take 3 months. I asked her what the point would be in getting a card in my maiden name, as I already have one, and she exclaimed, "Oh, you already have a number???!!" Erm, yes, it's written on the SS-5 form if you bothered to look!
Anyway, she said she still has to wait for BCIS to confirm the change, and it could take 4-6 weeks. Sigh.............Oh, well. At least it's done now, so that's another headache out the way, and I just need to sit and wait.
Ta ta for now!

Oh dear Kate. I sometimes wonder whether the sheer incompetence demonstrated by the "system" on so many occasions is actually a system problem or stems from a lack of training of the operatives. Either way, I guess there arent enough votes in it for any politician to bother about the problem.
Keep on trucking
