Well, if you get married in Mexico, then she's not your fianceé anymore, making the fianceé visa irrelevant. Instead she becomes your wife, and that requires an entirely different visa -- which means having to start all over again.

As far as a "religious" (ie, non-legal) ceremony in Mexico, I don't know... perhaps someone else has some info on that. Personally I think it's probably better to just keep things simple and get married in the US after she enters using the K1 visa.

You cannot marry legally in mexico and then use the fiance visa, you would need a
spouse visa at that point. I have seen posts here indicating that several did have
NON-legal church weddings for the sake of the family in mexico, and then use the
fiance visa, however.

Then she wouldn't be a fiance on arriving in the US, and would NOT be elgible to come
in under a fiance visa. If you marry outside the US, then you have to file I-130.

You can have a religious ceremony in Mexico, since they are not recognized as
"legal", but not a wedding at the civil register. We did it that way, just a nice
ceremony at a catholic church to please parents, relatives, friends (and ourselves),
and then got married here in the US.

Good luck, Gabi

Actually as long as you only have the religious wedding and not the civil one you can
marry in Mexico. The US only recognizes the legal ceremony in another country. in
Mexico the legal cermony is only the civil ceremony.
