Default Fiancee First, Then Wife, Now US Citizen

Greetings folks. I don't have the time to post much here anymore. A
wife and 4 kids somehow takes up a lot of the time that I used to have
for posting.

Some of you may or may not remember me, but I was around when Nigel first got
this newsgroup started, although my wife had already come to the US as a
Fiancee before then.

This past Monday she took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, and
walked out of the Atlanta District INS Office with her Naturalization
Certificate. Voters Registration was mailed that afternoon and her US
Passport will be applied for this coming week.

I was sitting where I could see her, and there was some eye leakage when she
recited the Pledge of Allegiance in addition to the great big smile when she
was handed the certificate..

Five years and nine months from the date that the I-129F Petition was mailed
and she's now a USC. *))

Next are the kids.

Hey Dutch! Long time no hear! Yes, 4 kids and a wife do tend to take up one's time.
I remember you from way back, perhaps you remember me. I don't post in here much
either, just happened to get in here this evening and saw your message.

Great to hear about the new citizen! You must be happy for her and she must be very
happy. Congrats!

Che-Ning is just about up to her time to file the N-400. Wish us luck!

Dutch, Congratulations. The way you describe this makes me proud as well. Were there
any adventures along the Natz Road that might help anyone else? Any advice to give?
Eye leakage? Geez, Dutch, that is the most touching thing you have ever said. Always
thought you were a hard-ass ;-). Our saga continues. Natz for Nina? Maybe. Best of
luck to you and the family, Dutch. Mike (ex-FAQ Guy)

Dutch,

Are you sure the kids aren't already citizens? Check out the Child Citizenship
Act of 2000.

You are correct in that the two that are under 18 acquire citizenship with
their mother. To get the Certificate is by filing an N-600 at US$185.00
each; and they both want the paper.

The two that are older than 18 have to go the N-400 after 5 years here.

Leakage was hers, but there was a bit of goose pimples over here. Not too
much, but a bit. *))

Of course, they could always get a passport if you want faster proof for less money
up front You do not need to file N600 to get the passport.
