It's incredible what a great resource this is. People here seem to know more, thru
experience, than some immigration lawyers I've spoken with. God bless you guys.

Anyways my Fiance filed a Fiance Visa Application from NY and last week got a notice
from the INS that the petition had been approved, and something about a cable being
sent to Delhi. My questions-:

1) As I understand it New Delhi will now send me a packet of forms, right? How long
before this gets to me?

2) When will my interview be?

3) My fiance will be coming to India soon and She wants to accompany me to the
interview. I'm wondering if the INS might send her some forms in the US that she
should tell her housemate to look out for.

Anybody who's going thru a similar process (or has done so previously) can get in
touch with me by email: [email protected]

All the best.

(1) It's hard to say how soon the packet should get to you. I think, that depends on
the consulate you are dealing with. Maybe some one who used the New Delhi
consulate will be able to answer that question better. As for us, our documents
were sent via pouch to the consulate in Colombo Sri Lanka, and we received our
packet within 2 weeks. I would try calling the Consulate and getting some
information on this. That is what I did.

(2) As for when your interview would be, that too depends on the Consulate. In my
case, my interview was walk-in. I don't believe the Colombo consulate handles too
many K1 visas.

(3) The INS isn't going to send your fiancee any more papers after the approval
notice. The only paper work she should get is the I-134 (Affidavit of Support)
which she must complete and send to you to take to the interview. Now the ball
is very firmly in your court, at the Consulate in New Delhi. I hope this
helps. Ranjini
