I am a UK citizen who wants to marry a US Citizen in the near future
however I need a couple of questions answered.

1. If we start the paperwork for a fiance visa can i still go over to
visit her in America on a Visa Waiver while the paperwork is going
through? i.e. go over there for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas while the
paperwork is being processed.

2. What online reading / FAQ lists should I start looking at so I know
any potential pitfalls in the paperwork process?

There's another group,
alt.visa.us.marriage-based
where knowledgeable people used to answer fiance-type visa queries like
yours. I haven't looked in it in years now, but it used to be helpful.
