Default fiance arriving soon - looking for advice and direction

Hello,

I posted yesterday but it doesn't seem to have published on the web
site. This is my first time using google as I was previously using my
ISP newsgroup server through outlook express.

My fiance is arriving in about 3 weeks and I wanted to know if anyone
could advise me on what we should do when she gets here with regards
to S.S., EAD, Marriage etc. and if there is any particular order in
which to approach the various responsibilities necessary at this 2nd
stage of the K1 process.

Thanks,

P.S. haven't been on the forum in a few months and its good to be back
and getting in to the mindset again.

First I would get married and apply for adjustment of status (I-485), with an
application for work authorization (I-765). You can possibly go to the office
with these forms and get an EAD immediately. SSN can be obtained with a valid
(I-94).
Hope this helps you out.

FIRST apply for her Social Security Number... then get married... then send in your AOS, Advanced Parole & 1 Year EAD application!

Good luck!

I would definitely apply for the SSN right away. I did that, and I got my SSN after about a month. It might've taken a lot longer, but I went to the Miami BCIS office myself to get my name on the database, rather than wait for them to get round to it. I could've saved a lot of time if I'd known that in the first place! Not sure if all the offices do this, though.
We've only just got married and we'll be filing AOS in the next few days. I didn't need to apply for my temp work permit, either, as I got the stamp at JFK.
Good luck to you and your fiance!
