My sister-in-law is going for K3 visa in Calcutta, India.
But last three years my brother did not enough income to cross to poverty line.
We are afraid in case the consulate asks for Copy of Tax Return (they did my wife) then what my brother would do?
I heard lately US Consulates in India does not accept Co-Sponsor and ask the applicant to refile the Tax with enough income to cross the proverty line ( which does make sense).

How would he refile his tax return to show enough income?
That would indicate he either didn't report the income correctly in the
first place, or is going to report more income than earned for the
purpose of sponsering an immigrant. The former might be an innocent
mistake although I doubt it was, the latter would seem to be fraud.

He did report what ever he earned........
But in some cases the Consulate asking to show more income and re-file the Tax Return even that is not the case......which is FRAUD....but that is waht they are asking........
What you can do? To get your family you have to?
Nothing will happen if you go to congressman or anyone lese .....it will complicate the matter and delay the process.......

Saha,
US consulate in INDIA can't be different from rest of the world. Ask your brother to call them and find out wheather he can find a co-sponser or not. I think they must accept joint sponser as they do in Delhi.
Whoever is getting P3 and P4 in India , they clearly mentioned about joint sponser in those packets.
