My friend's parents are here in New York from India 2 months ago. They got tourist
VISA for 6 months. Their VISA expires on Sept. 3rd. 2001. My friend's wife is
expecting baby around mid October. So my friend wants to extend the parents VISA by
another 6 months. I would like to know whether the VISA can be extended and what are
the forms need to filed and the fee needed for filing.
I would appreciate if somebody can e-mail me to [email protected]

Yes, you can apply for an extension of a tourist visa. The extension would be for six
months, but ironically, it can take up to one year to find out if the six month
extension has been approved.
You should contact the advice of licensed attorney for the filing procedures and the
ramifications of applying for an extension.
