Does this exist in Romania? I've heard that Russians can get a VISA through a travel
agency. I was wondering the same thing about Romania?
Thanks, Bob

I'm sure you can get a tourist visa through a travel agency. But if you're asking
about K1/K3 visas I don't know why Romania would be an exception in issuing this type
of visa. You have to go through the process just like everyody else.

I have a Romanian fiancée. It would have been great if she could have come to the
U.S. for a visit with a tourist visa. But from all that I have heard, that is almost
impossible to get (for the U.S.). Why are you so sure Romanians can get tourist
visa's to the U.S. through a travel agency? Do you have any links for me showing how
this can be done? This would be great news to us if so -- please tell more if there
really is more!

Well, actually I didn't give it much thought when I wrote my reply. When I think of
"tourist visa" I don't think of "fiancee pretending to go on vacation and then never
coming back". I'm not sure about being able to easily get a tourist visa in Romania.
I thought it's just like with most other countries. Why wouldn't a tourist planning a
vacation in the U.S. be able to get a tourist visa? It's not like Romania is a
comunist country anymore, right? But showing enough proof that you are not intending
to immigrate is another story. Now in your case, since the girl is your fiancee they
would probably deny her anyway since that is a pretty good reason for her to
immigrate... Sorry.

I don't think it is that easy for a Russian to get a tourist visa from a travel
agency. BTW, B-2 visas for Russians now get sent to a private company who then
forwards them to the consulate. I wish I knew why they are doing this now. The
Russian company doesn't approve the visas, they just send the paperwork to the
consulate.
I think it would also be difficult for a single Romanian lady to get a visa, despite
another poster's message about Romania not being a communist country anymore. Even
though tourist come from FSU countries, the standards for getting a tourist visa in
those countries is higher than others.

Glenn please listen to me
Save yourselves some headaches, and DON'T allow your fiance to try for a visitor
visa. They are EXTREMELY hard to get, and she will be treated badly. The consulate
there is very suspicious of any visitor visa applicant, and it justifiably so (from
what I understand).
I am speaking from first hand experience. They are actually very fair, and you must
be honest with them. If your fiance tries to get a visitor visa, they WILL figure
out (in your case) that she intends to marry instead of just "visit" and this is
fraud I think.
Save yourself the headaches... do it right.
