Default End to Summons/Citizenship Drama

This is an update for the drama unfolding under "Receiving Summons, Will it Affect Citizenship".

My friend's case was dismissed this morning!! The judge said that the police had no legal right to stop her [for muttering an obscenity] and the other charges of not producing an ID and not obeying "lawful order" just did not hold as they did not have a right to detain her in the first place. He and the public defender were really nice and restored our faith in the legal system -- this pending court date had been a nightmare for 2 months.
This is great news as there have been cases where people have been convicted and it goes on the record.

[For more on details of this case see thread "Receiving Summons, Will it Affect Citizenship". ]

I will post more details later. The article in the Pittsburgh Post that people on this forum pointed me to says that a person's right to curse even if it directed at a police officer is protected under the First Amendement. I will write more later on the courthouse scene, and include some information on what you can do in such a situation.

I did not contribute but followed the thread and this is wonderful news

Since you wrote pretty much the same thing in that thread, why on earth did you bother to start another one dealing with exactly the same topic?

Because sometimes when a thread gets too long and off-the-point [usually because of silly remarks of bored people sitting at home] people who otherwise would be interested stop following it. I posted an update separately so those genuinely interested would be able to go back to the end of that thread and know that there is something at the end of it and not just the remarks of people using anonymity to get at each other.

obviously the most important topic or poster we ever had on this forum - to feel the need to go against the general standard ''keep it all in one thread for clarity, ease of search, if people are interested they will check back on the original thread'' - we see on here (and most forums). No-one else has an issue with the norm - why are you so special?

Aww this ain't worthy of a new thread.

The person got lambasted by the judge then summarily deported - THAT would be exciting.

I'm not sure why there are two threads running on this subject, therefore I am going to close this one. If you wish to continue the discussion please post in the original thread which can be found here

Thanks
