EAD timescales
Is the 90 day waiting period for the EAD a straight 90 days, or 90 working days?
My case has been sitting at the 'initial review' phase since October. Getting a bit fed up with it now.
Thanks

My initial card came faster, my replacement has just taken the full 90 days, but they did request extra paperwork.

Re: EAD timescales
Like you, since October, my EAD case is showing as 'initial review' on the USCIS website. However, following some very good advice from this website, I had an InfoPass Appoinment on January 3rd. At that appointment, I was advised my EAD had actually been approved on December 12th! This was approved without my biometrics and there is a separate thread in this regard (my biometrics appt is on February 9th and I am told my EAD card will be processed after my biometrics are done). This is just my personal experience and I would suggest you call the helpline on 1 800 375 5283 and ask to speak to a 2nd tier officer. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck

No biometrics appointment, nothing other than the original receipt document.
Being really stupid here, but what is infopass? Had a search on the wiki but it didn't provide a match.
Cheers

Re: EAD timescales
Have just phoned USCIS, who couldn't tell me anything because their system is down.
I am totally fed up. Between this and our house purchase falling through I am not having a great time right now.

It is how you get an in-person appointment at a USCIS office.

Things just get better. Tried the infopass booking system and it wouldn't even offer me an appointment!
Don't you just love bureaucracy!

Maybe it's because their systems are down. Don't give up, just keep trying their website and I would suggest you clear your browser history first. Do call them again and don't forget to ask to speak to a 2nd tier officer.

Oh my goodness:
Firstly, MadRad, I'm sorry about your EAD frustration. I read this thread today and was going to reply, because I'm in a slightly similar position (on a J2 visa; I-765 filed December 6th -- not an unreasonably long time to be waiting at all, but I'm just sick of the limbo). I hope you resolve your case soon.
But I hadn't realized you could check your progress on the USCIS website, so I went on: it said APPROVED and that notification had been sent last Friday. The actual card would follow within 30 days. Hurrah.
Went down to collect my mail just now, and there's only the bloody EAD card there waiting for me. Dear lord. Valid til the end of our DS-2019.
So from Dec 6th to Feb 7th: 64 days.
No biometrics or further contact after I sent the I-765 paperwork in.
(I suppose this means now I'm merely 'unemployed', rather than 'idle by order of the Dept of Homeland Security'. And I need a Social Security number.)
Wishing you best of luck with yours, MadRad.
