EAD, SSN & Income Tax

I entered the US on a K3 visa in July and my son has now joined us on his K4 visa, mid October. I applied for my EAD in Aug and still awaiting it's arrival, then on to get my SSN. My son is 14yrs old and we're wondering how to go about getting his SSN. Would he need to apply for an EAD to get his SSN as well?
Also wondering what we do at income tax time for my husband to claim us as dependants on his return.
Any info would be appreciated, or links to where I might find this info.
Thanks in advance
Jo

Re: EAD, SSN & Income Tax

For tax issues, once who don't have a SSN can easily have a TIN (tax
identification number). Just contact INS, but that's pretty easy. You can
apply for a TIN for your child (and for you if you don't manage tyo have a
SSN, but I don't that it will happen), so your husband can claim you as
dependants on his return.

I mispelled ... TIN (tax identification number) are issued by IRS (not INS).
I'm so sorry, you should contact IRS (not INS)

No problem.. I read it as IRS and not INS. (didn't even notice myself) ;)
I'm at my 90 day mark for my EAD, so I'll be heading to the local district office to request my temp card this coming week, which will in turn get me my SSN. I called the 1-800 # for the IRS and they're sending me out a W-7 form for a TIN for my son.
Thanks again
Jo
