Default EAD renewal in Chicago...Am I too late????? Please give input

My EAD runs out in early February...I am about to send the form for
renewal..I did not know that I had to send it in 3 months ahead of
time...
My questions..:
1) Will I get my renewal EAD in the time frame I need...1 and a half
months?
2)Would going in person make a difference to get the EAD faster?
3)If I do not get the renewal EAD in time before my current EAD runs
out, what do I do if I have a job that I have? Can I continue to work
as I have applied for the renewal EAD already?
WOuld appreciate any input..I am pretty worried about this..
Thanks a lot.

I had the same thing happen to me, mine expires 2/06/03. and I
sent the renewal 60 days before expiration, I know they got
it since I tracked it.

First thing, send it ASAP!, make sure you send it with delivery confirmation
so that you know when they get it, also pray that they send you a receipt
by mail telling you they got it.

Chicago does not have walk-ins.

Technically you can't, realistically, it is a diff thing. Best way is that
before
your EAD expires, you go to INS downtown, and tell them your EAD
is running at certain date and you have not received the renewal, then they
should give you an interim one. Another thing is that if you do not get an
EAD in 90 days you'll get an interim one (they HAVE to give you one)
on walkin basis.

for more info call their 800 number.

Nothing to worry about... you sent your check, and they should send you the
EAD. Actually I was talking with an INS person and he said during this
economy
it does make more sense to send it 60 days before, since you never know what
could happen tomorrow.

I forgot to mention, did you send a money order, cashier check ?
for either I hope you kept the receipt, you can check in couple of
weeks to see if they cashed it, (via the bank) that will give you a
proof that they got it.

there are things that I have heard that if you do not get EAD in time
before yours expires, you have to wait and not work, etc... or your
company could get fined, but what are the odds this could happen.

I don't know if you want to tell the HR about this, it is up to you, I did,
because I work in a small company and I have been here for couple of
years, but milage do vary.
