EAD question
 

Does a K1 visa also have to fill out the I-765 form as soon as I enter
the US or do I file it with the AOS. This will be done at the Sacramento
office

You apply for an EAD and after that a SSN as soon as you
arrive in the US. Even before marriage.

I don't think that is quite right steg, If you don't get the work
authorisation stamp at the POE you can apply for a 90 day EAD under
category (a)(6) but this has to be done within 90 days of arrival and
cannot be renewed. The one year EAD must be applied for at the same
time or after you file for AOS and is filed under category (c)(9).

If you don't get the stamp at the POE then it is almost pointless
applying under (a)(6) as most places are taking 90 days to process
EAD's anyway!

As far as the SSN is concerned, it is best to apply for it as soon as
you arrive here. Do NOT wait until after the marriage.

Welllllllllll

I arrived in July 2000 through LAX. Did not know of stamps,
did not get a stamp. Went to INS and within a week I had an
EAD and with that I got a SSN. EAD was valid for a full
year. All through my K-1 entry visa. Found a job before we
got married. I know things changed, but did things change so
much since then????

Prior to marriage on arrival you can apply for a temporary 90 day EAD. Upon marriage at AOS you can apply for a full EAD.

I thought a 90 day EAD was included in the K1 & I-94

You are under the K1 authorised to work for 90 days from date of entry, however you still need the card and have to apply for this on entry.

OK. Well not so OK:)
But bottomline for the first poster is: get your EAD as soon
as you have a chance after arriving in the US, before marriage.
