EAD processing time in NYC

I'm married to a US citizen and filed my AOS/EAD/AP based on that August
22nd with the NYC INS office. The checks were cashed a couple of days
later, and I received a yellow receipt, but nothing else since.
I had two questions related to this:
1. Should the yellow receipt have my Alien # on it? I haven't been
assigned a number otherwise so far.
2. I haven't received an appointment for the EAD yet. Should I be
worried or does it take that long? Current processing time for EAD in
NYC is listed as 90 days, and I was assuming that I would get an
appointment letter some time before the actual appointment.
Thanks for all the help in advance,
Martin

It is a variable. If the A# is not on the register receipt, check on your cancelled check and it might have been written there. If not there either, it still is not a problem as one will be assigned to you when you pick up the EAD

Yes normally it is wihtin 90 days and you usually get the Appointment Pickup Letter about one month before hand, another variable. NYC posters since June, 2002 have reported inconsistent time waits for EAD from 60 days to 120 days and anything inbetween. You can go to 26 Federal Plaza to see if they will give you the EAD if you have not received it before the end of the 90th day.

Martin,
Would you share through which airport you entered the US and what they did
upon entry with regards to receiving an EAD stamp. I guess you didn't get
an alien # upon entering the country since you are still waiting for one.
Were you able to apply for and receive a Social Security card without the
alien #?
Thank you,
John

John,
I was already living in the US on an H1B visa before I got married, so
therefore I didn't get an EAD stamp when I last came into the country. I
received my SSN when I was a teaching assistant in grad school years
ago, but I didn't get an alien number back then. I had an alien number
when I received an EAD for OPT (before the H1B), but that was only a
temporary number. Please let me know if I need to clarify any other points.
Thanks for your help,
Marti

Thanks Martin,
Your origianal posting was very clear.
The reason I asked was a bit off topic and unrelated to your questions.
I've been researching and trying to understand how it will work when my
fiance arrives at JFK in NYC next year with a K1 visa. There are
inconsistencies as to what information you recieve depending on which state
and airport you arrive in and the subsequent application for a social
security card.
I just figured I'd ask you since I was under the impression you arrived on a
K1.
Thanks for the response.

There is absolutely no consistency in the issuance of the temporary 90 day EAD at POEs, at least for JFK. If you were to look at the POE list complied from the experiences of K-1 recipients entering the US, you will see that of late, JFK is spotty when it comes to the issuance of EADs. It looks like a 7 to 10 chance of getting it. Be sure that you "ask" politely when you are there.

Hi! I'm actor Troy McClure. You may remember me from such threads as
'EAD processing time in NYC' and 'Martin Kas: tasty but deadly.'

There's no A# on the receipt. The A# will be on your EAD when you
finally get it.
My waiting time from AOS/AP/EAD application to picking up the EAD card
was very close to 6 months. That's common these days at NYC INS,
unfortunately. Once the ninety days from the date on the receipt has
passed, you can take a shot at visiting Federal Plaza in person to get
an EAD issued earlier if you need it to start a job, but your chances
are mixed and will probably depend on the mood of the INSbot you
happen to deal with on the day.
