EAD Interview Requirements
Hi there,
I'd been reading this newsgroup for a while and found a lot of useful
information. I married my American fiancée last October and emigrated from
England on a K-1 visa. We are now settled in New Jersey and waiting on AOS
and Employment Authorization (English Bob: you have my sympathies - I'm into
my forth month of enforced employment hiatus and about to go insane).
We got a letter from the Cherry Hill, NJ office requesting me to come down
for an interview for the EAD. First of all, I'm hoping this is normal
procedure! They've asked me to bring my passport, old EADs, I-94's, etc.
They are also asking for a proof of payment for the AOS filing, which is
causing us some concern.
We did receive a letter from Newark in December that our applications for
I-485 and I-765 are being processed, and a receipt number was mentioned. Is
that what they want? They also want proof of NJ residency, which for me
extends as far as a phone bill. Do I need anything more substantial than
that? Perhaps a letter from my landlord?
Any help would be gratefully received. My interview is in early March, by
which time I'll be so desperate to work, some kind of EAD denial would
probably be the end of me!
Thanks for listening,
- Paul
