EAD Before Wedding?

EAD Before Wedding?
Is this at all possible? My fiancee and I are tight on money, so the original plan
was to wait until the last few weeks before the wedding for him to come over. I've
read that when he flies over with his approved K1 visa, he can go to my local INS
office and get a temporary EAD card the same day. If this is true do we have to go to
the district -or- sub office. I live in CT so it would be easy to go to the Hartford
sub-office but we could go to the Boston district office too.
Any other help on this is appreciated. I want him to come as soon as he can.
