EAD appointment 10 days B4 AOS interview

Hi,
I applied for my AOS, EAD etc all at the same time back in Nov. Things moved quickly (more quickly than I had anticipated), and my AOS interview was scheduled for March 18th. Yesterday I recieved notice that I have an appointment to collect my EAD on March 8th. I have send the letter back saying that it would be better if I just wait until the 18th, but I was wondering if there are any consequences of missing this appointment - i.e. if they dont get my letter in time saying I wont be coming to the appointment, then will they consider my whole AOS application void? On March 18th, if they can't stamp my passport that day, would it be possible to get my EAD while I am there?
Thanks for any responses.

I think there was someone else (eiloo??) on this board who rescheduled their EAD appointment.
Generally they take your EAD at the AOS interview. The worst case you will have nothing to give to them and you can explain why/how you tried to reschedule.
I have my AOS interview on March 16, 2004 at Baltimore but got my EAD last month
Best wishes

Thanks for the advice.... and good lick in your interview tomorrow!! I have mine on Thurs, and am eager to know how yours goes. Did yiou file your I130 and I485 at the same time? I am curious since I did and my I130 hasn't come up as approved yet. I'm assuming it has to be approved by my Thurs interview since that is my AOS interview.
Anyway, let us know how it goes.
PS where in Rockville are you? I've not seen anyone else on the forum who lives in Rockville!

Best of Luck on Thursday. It will be a breeze!! It seems that for Dano who was a week before I was... he had a delay due to the FBI security checks. I got my stamp same day... so maybe they are speeding up the checks now.

Here is the summary :
1) Presented 485 notice letter at the counter
2) Called within 10 minutes
3) Interviewer in his early 30's. Nice calm guy
4) Sworn myself and my wife to tell the truth
5) Made us take the seat
6) asked for Photo ID from both of us
7) He made sure my biographic info was right by asking my name, address, place i worked, SS#, phone #
8) He asked my wife her name, address, and if she worked at the same place as mentioned in the 325 application
9) Checked my passport to see whether i entered the country legally
10) He wanted see the orginal marriage certificate
11) Wanted to verify info on bonafide marriage. I asked him if needed to see our album. He said he needed any one copy of the latest statement (bank, utility, etc) for him keep in the folder.
11) I gave him a copy of joint health insurance and 2003 tax form
12) He asked my wife when we were married
13) he said everything looks fine but would need secondary proof of my birth (My birth certificate does not have my name. Just my parents name, sex, time and date of birth). He said a copy secondary school certificate would be ok. I said i have it at home
14) He did not say anything. On a sheet of paper he finger printed my right index finger and took my signature. He said that will be used in the actual card that would come soon.
15) He said he was approving our petition but I would need to submit a copy of my secondary school certificate. Once he gets that he will send a letter telling me that i can come and get my passport stamped at my liesure.
16) He said i would need no more interviews and told me get my EAD card when i come to get my passport stampped
17) He said since my marriage was s less than 2 tears old. I would get
a conditional card.
18) He talked about removing conditions on green card.
I thought i had all the documents but I never thought of the school certificate. They only need it if your name is not in your birth certificate ( it sounds odd, but in India, baby's don't need to have the name when they are born). Any way, submitted the secondary school certificate today. Hopefully i should get the approval next week. Might have to waste half day vacation.
Yes I live in Rockville. very close to the Rockville Metro and Regal Cinema.
All the best. Don't worry, they just want to confirm the information you submitted.
Best Wishes

I am curious since I did and my I130 hasn't come up as approved yet. I'm assuming it has to be approved by my Thurs interview since that is my AOS interview.
Anyway, let us know how it goes.

No need to be nervous. They just ask you simple questions. By the way they also asked me questions from the 485 form (felony, drug trafficing, etc).

We had our AOS interview and all was fine.
But here we are now and still no I551 stamp.. and still no closer to an outcome.
Filled AOS 30 months ago.. and AOS interview 15 months ago and still none the wiser.
But good luck and hope it all works out for you.
Seems to me that the US Goverment has a thing about Brits at the moment. I know a few from the UK that are going through the same problem.. and Britain is our best friend in this time of political turmoil.
Is it because the UK isn't allowed to enter the 'lottery' and therefore CIS assumes that all marraiges between US/UK citizens are fixed?
Or are CIS unable to realise that the UK/US are so closely matched in terms of same everything that in this day of age that its not a big thing for American/British relationships to flourish?
Whatever it is.. its a joke!
I'm seriously thinking of uprooting my family and leaving the United States, and going to the UK with my hubby.
What makes things even worse is the fact that my husband isn't even bothered about obtaining a green card, but has to because our government requires him to! He'd be happy back in the UK.
And after all this time they still can't get it sorted.
Say's a lot for our so called liberty and freedom when I call our local CIS office and am informed that they can't discuss our case over the phone, but the NSC can?? And can the NSC, nope, they can't! Have to contact the local office. So there goes another day of work
![Embarrassment](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.gif)
30 months of dire shite from MY goverment, and to be honest, I'm so embarressed that this can happen. My country goes around the world saying how great it is, and how great freedom is, and such a great thing is liberty, but after 30 months can't even process a simple form or two.
15 months after my husband AOS we are still waiting?
WHY
AND WHY CAN"T WE GET QUESTIONS ANSWERED?
Mary.

If he approved the petition (when all evidence is in), why would he tell you to get an EAD *with* your I-551 stamp? The i-551 removes the need for an EAD.
If he told you about removing conditions, why will you 'need no more interviews'? There is potentially one with filing the I-751 to remove contitions.
I'm not trying to get you worried, but I am curious about what you were told.

Welll...... thanks for that.... that's really what I wanted to read the morning of my interview.....
HOWEVER, all DID go well and YAY - I'm approved... stamp and all. The interview was very smooth, the guy was very nice, and the whole thing took just over 40 mins. I think Baltimore is definately a great office to work with - we sent in our application just 5 months ago. I asked him why some take longer, and some people have problems, and he said it is all about the organization. If the BCIS ever has to ask you for something, all bets are off - that is, that it could add a SIGNIFICANT amount of time to the application. He used to work in LA, and said it was rediculous there - that if someone came to an interview and was missing something, it could add 1-3 yrs before you get approved!!!
He said out application and forms we brought with us were REALLY well organized - better than most lawyers he sees, and that really helped things move slowly.
I almost had a heart attack when I saw a big red piece of paper in my file which said my medical was absent - I sent it in with the rest of my paperwork - and was worried it has got lost in the move from Vermont. A bit of searching and he found it stuck to some other papers. PHEW. That would have been a pain cos they wouldn't have accepted my copy of the medical.
The only questions he asked were about our jobs, where we met, family (and had we met each others), and what the wedding was like. He looked happily through our wedding album and honeymoon album - and talked to us a lot about Hawaii (where we went) - since he had been there. He asked me all the questions regarding arrests etc.... and then for documents which have our names on. I gave him a full copy of all the things we brought, but he just looked at my husband's IRA account listing me as the beneficiary (even though it says non-spouse on the form) and was satisfied.
It was actually quite a pleasant experience. He spent the rest of the time filling out paperwork, answering common questions before we even asked about working and travelling, and gossiping about the UMD basketball game on in the afternoon (I am a UMD grad student!).
He said the card will take 6-8 months, but it seems most people get their's sooner from Vermont, so hopefully it'll be here soon!
Until then... YAY I can go home!!!!! (I never got an AP and haven't been home in 18 months).
Good luck to everyone still waiting... my advice... move to MD and file through Baltimore![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Mary.

15 months after AOS and still no 551 stamp. This absurd. Do you know why did not get your passport stamped on the interview date?
If i were you I would call my congressman or Senator
All the best

Don't want to put a dampner on this.. but the same thing happened to us back in December 2002.
Whatever it is.. its a joke!
