E-filing ( renew EAD )and supporting documentaton

My I-485( marriage based ) is in pending. I am trying to renew my EAD(I-765) thru the e-filing.
Do I still need to submit the supporting documentations ?
If so, what kind of supporting documentsitons do i need to send ( and where)?

If anyone has same experience, please share with me...

Hi,
We didn't personally use the e-filing system ourselves, so I'm sorry that I can't answer your questions about that. However, there are people on the forum who have had quite a bit of trouble with the e-filing system. You might want to seach for some posts before you use it?

Well the experiences for e-filings has been horrendous. The timeline for the e-filings for I-765 has been well over 90 days and yes, if you took out your old copy of the I-765 you will read what is required as supporting documentation. Yes it has to be submitted by mail.

You might want to rethink filing electronically. Depending on where you live in the US you might have to file to the new address in Chicago. See the USCIS for the lockbox address and to determine if your jurisdiction is part of Phase I.

Re: E-filing ( renew EAD )and supporting documentaton

We e-filed our renewal on August 16. We mailed a copy of the (then)
current EAD card and made an appointment for biometrics (October 25).
Our petition was approved in December and the card was recevied
December 20. The previous EAD card was set to expire on Jan 5.
(Memphis is the D.O.)

If you decide to e-file for your AP papers, be sure to send photos in.
This is not very clear on the instructions, and we got an RFE because
of this.

That's odd. When I efiled for my EAD it was approved in about a month and a
half. I didn't have to send any pictures. I received an RFE for
biometrics, but I had already booked the appointment. The ASC stamped the
RFE showing that I had the biometrics taken and I sent it back (to the Texas
Service Center) and received approval shortly after that.

Timeline (roughly) was:
- Mid-October - e-filed I-765. Booked biometrics appt same day.
- Late-October - Received RFE for biometrics
- November 16 (I think) - Biometrics appt
- A couple of days after that - Called NCSC because status hadn't changed
online. Asked if I had to send stamped RFE back to TSC. Person said "No,
they'll know automatically"
- A few days after that - Status still hadn't changed. Made copy of RFE,
sent Priority Post to TSC.
- A few days after that - Status changed on line - Approved, waiting for
card.
- Beginning of December - Received EAD.

So e-filing worked just fine for me. I did learn, however, that the people
at the NCSC don't know s*** :)

Oh, there is one wrinkle to my story. I wasn't applying under (c)(9) -
adjusting status, I went under (a)(6) - fiancee. We hadn't filed our AOS
paperwork yet. BAD MOVE. The card expired last week. I also found out
(from this group) that I probably could have gone to the local office and
gotten the EAD for free. So I basically wasted $175. Except now I have an
SSN (always gotta find the silver lining).

Re: E-filing ( renew EAD )and supporting documentaton

Here's our experience

we efiled and was confirmed online. The website asked us to printout a copy of the document and called a 800 number to make appointment for fingerprint. We made appointment to go in for fingerprint the next day and sent in required documentation.

However, although following USCIS instruction (online) I did not get my EAD till 3 months letter when my wife and I finally went into CIS San Francisco to inquire our AOS adjustment (had interview back in March 2004, sent in additional evidence at the same time filling EAD---3 months after interview) made an inqurie ourselves and 2 attempts by the congressperson representative. I was issued an EAD for 6 months on the spot). BTW, the officer at the information station was very friendly, we brought all our paper work with us just in case. He looked at EAD receipt and directed us to get one around the corner to his station. And put a note on our AOS case that we have personally made an inquire to our CASE. To our suprise, our case was approved the very next day.

OK, here's a question for those who have filed for an EAD renewal (whether on line or via mail). Doesn't it work the same way as the original filing? i.e., you mail in your application and supporting documents, they send back an NOA, you then make an appointment to go for biometrics, and then after biometrics they mail you the actual EAD card?

Seems to me someone is saying they made the biometrics appointment the same day they mailed out their application? Don't you have to wait for the NOA?

Thanks!

Re: E-filing ( renew EAD )and supporting documentaton

We were told that there's no NOA been sent when we efile (by calling 800 number)

The comfirmation printout with support center stamp serves as NOA

Oh...I see. We're not planning to e-file, so I assume ours will work like the first one did...with the NOA and instructions to call for biometrics appointment and all that. Anyone who has done a regular mail renewal know for sure?

Thanks,
Rene

I e-filed my EAD renewal on Nov 8, 2004, paid online and got confirmation receipt. You can read on your receipt what docs needed and where to send them, but roughly I sent a copy of my previous EAD, copy of my NOA1 for I-485, copy of my passport with visa on it. Then I booked biometrics which took place 1 week later, they took my photo and fingerprint (so I didn't need to send any photos). Got approved by Dec 30, 2004 and card arrived at Jan 7, 2005. Didn't get any trouble at all... thank goodness :-)
