Default Dutch-American couple going to the US? Friends & help desperately needed

I just discovered this website, have been going through it for hours
and hours and found lots of useful information. But what I would
really like is to get into contact with others in our situation:

Dutch male 21 years old recently engaged to American female 23 years
old, currently residing in the Netherlands but wanting to enter the
USA on a fiancee visum to move there in about a year afer his
graduation from Tilburg University.

We have just started to find all necessary information, we are new to
any of this and we desperately seek help in getting through this. We
have encountered many stressful experiences in the past but this time
we want to do it right. What we really need is good friends to help us
get through everything, my fiance is a passionate snail mail penpal
and I prefer e-mail.

We do hope to hear from anybody. Age/sex/country unimportant, as long
as honesty is your strong point!

Welcome and good luck on your journey through the K-1 process.

Many of us are going through or have gone through the process.

Alot of the wait you will encounter will depend on which of the service centers you must use. Where does the US citizen live? That's how they determine which.

Welcome Paul! I lived in the Netherlands for four years and really, really liked it there. The people were great and I still correspond with my neighbors there from 11 years ago.
This NG is a good place for info and support, and sure enough you will find someone who has "been there, done that" to bond with.

Hi Paul
the fiance visa is the difficult route for DutchAmerican couples.
You have special privileges that can shorten and make easier your
immigration trip.
go to our website and click on 'other couples' on the left menu and see how
other couples made the immigration trip.
Find out about DCF....it takes about 6 weeks from first filing to visa in
your hand with full work and travel authorization. You must meet 3
requirements: no criminal record, no communicable diseases, and no previous
overstays in America.
check it out
I think you will be very happy you do not have to jump through the fiancee
hoops for BCIS.
stay in touch,
Eileen

Hi everybody,

Thanks a lot for all the help and support. We really feel for the
first time in years that we are not the only ones going through all
this fuss! What a relief! Eileen, your website got me started on this
so thanx so much! I am sure after this is all over we will try and
help others with this too.
My fiancee's parents live in the Milwaukee area and we will stay with
them at first so we will have to deal with the Chicago and/or (?)
Milwaukee officers.

Why on earth does it say on the INS website that this fiancee visum
would only take "several months" and the DCF 6-12 months if that is
not true? Are they trying to discourage DCF?

Well, anybody with experiences with the Dutch DCF please help out and
is there anybody out there in the Milwaukee/Chicago area?

Greetings to all of you!
Paul & Colleen

first thing you need to do is learn how to say
Muh....waw....keee
there is no mill
there is no walk
Muh ...waw...kee.
Klaas loves Wisconsin cheese....so you are lucky!

things change so fast and are different from area to area.....that they just
give a generic answer
In addition to that they don't always know what they are doing and are not
responsible for what they say so can say anything they feel like.

Paul,

I'm half of a Dutch-American couple who has been going through the K1 process since June of last year.

I'd be happy to give you our timeline and share our experiences through the process to help you make a decision on which way to file. You can e-mail me at: [email protected].

Good luck,

Heather
