DS-230 Question
 

Sorry for all of the questions, but I know that you guys are a great wealth of knowledge for me!

On the form DS-230 that my fiance is filling out for K1 visa, question 43 is asking about Social Security Numbers and we are a bit unsure as to how to reply.

My fiance is a UK citizen who has never applied for a SSN or card before, but would like to have one in the future after we're married (I am a US citizen). Can anyone give us a rundown on how to reply?

On the DS-230, where it asks for SSN, put "none" or leave it blank as the form permits.

With a K-1 visa, there is no way to apply for a SSN prior to arriving in the USA.

Is the DS-230 form required for a K1 visa? I hope not because I'm going through the K1 process and have never heard of it until now.

Come to think of it, I believe DS-230 has been replaced with an online form....can't recall the form number offhand.

The only form K1 visa applicants need to complete now is the DS160, this form replaced DS230, and DS156/7.

OP, why are you completing the DS230? Surely that couldn't have been in packet 3 from the Embassy?

Yes, DS-160 is the K1 visa application form and the only such form I've completed, post petition phase at least.
