Default DS-156

On the DS-156 it has a space for a photo. Do I 'staple or glue' a photo in there in
addition to the 3 I take with me to my interview? Or is one of those 3 the picture
for that form?

If it is in addition is it one of the adit photo's? ie 3/4 frontal view with right
ear showing.

Thanks in advance

I just need a yes/no answer on this - I was hoping to post my packet 3 forms off
today but can't until I know if I need to put this photo in with them.

Thanks kindly, sorry if I'm being impatient.

Personal recollection is that you must not attach any photo to the form (for a K1
application - not sure if that is what you are doing).

(In fact I thought it said that on the form itself somewhere, it did when I did
our K1/K2s)

Instead you take them to the embassy interview, give them to the embassy officer with
your paperwork, and they do the rest. The officer will ask for them.

As for ADIT/frontview I don't recall, sorry.

Someone from the consulate where you are being interviewed, could answer this
question best. The dimensions for this photo are different to the type of photo you
will be taking to the consulate. If I recall correctly, I was sent the specifications
for this photo by the consulate. But to answer your question, I think the photo you
"glue or staple" there is NOT one of the three (or four as the case may be) that you
take to the consulate. Ranjini

The Consulate will put the photo there. Give them the photos separately. The only
pictures you should submit are the 3/4 frontal with right ear showing. Read the
instructions for the K-1 forms you are submitting over again very carefully.

Yes it's in the K1 packet 3. - sorry should have mentioned that and I'm in the UK

No instructions on the form whatsoever, nor in the pdf. The instructions sent by the
embassy just say complete but do not sign. Nothing mentions the photo on there.

sigh, Ranjini says it does go on there... erk, I think I shall have to call
the embassy.

Thanks anyhow

There are no instructions on the DS-156. That is the problem. Its just a 2sided form,
They gave me 2 copies in my packet 3 but no instructions for
it. The downloadable pdf has no instructions in either. The IV-15 additional
instructions just say (Please complete but do not sign the form) No mention of
the spot for the photo. Completing in my mind would include the photo since it is
part of the form. The instructions for the photos further down just give the spec,
not what they are for. I've read every inch of what they have sent and it doesn't
specify either way anywhere....

Thanks

Yes, it would be good idea to call the consulate for verification. I seem to recall
it was a frontal view, passport type of thing with the dimensions 37mm x 37 mm. Look
at this link. It gives specifications for the photo to be attached to the DS-156
form. http://www.visa-services.com/application%20form.htm Hope this helps. Ranjini

Default Re: DS-156 - an answer of sorts

Well I just phoned the london embassy and the lady said that the DS-156 form is used
for any visa application and thats why it requires a photo, she said in use for the
K1 app 'it would probably be safest if you put it on' - she did confirm it would be
the frontal view not the adit style.

Not quite the difinitive answer I was hoping for and now means I have to try and
sneak out from work at lunchtime tomorrow and go get a photo done.

Ahh well, better safe than sorry

Thanks for the replies everyone

I didn't see anything either, but then I sent my documents off before I got the
Packet 3 after talking to the Embassy, and consequently I have only glanced at the
Packet 3 to see what was there in addition to the forms I'd already sent. All I did
ultimately was send two photos with it rather than attached to it (one ADIT and one
passport; I had to fill in exactly the same form on a previous occasion and they
required passport, so covering the bases) and told them to discard those they don't
need. Still, others have said it's not needed, so...
