Question Does my boyfriend has to have a valid passport?

Sorry to bother with my questions, but I just want to make sure that I have everything correct before sending my I129F form.
Does my boyfriend has to have a valid passport?
I haven't sent the form yet, and i would like to know if my fiance has to have his passport done before sending it or if he can wait to have it done once the application has been accepted???
Thanksssssssss

I don't believe your boyfriend needs a passport at the moment. I believe you can send the I-129F without a copy of his passport.

He will need a valid passport by the time he wants to submit the checklist for the visa.

Best Wishes,
Rene
