Default Do you have to come in through JFK?

I remember reading a while ago that once you have your visa (K1 in my case) it's important to enter the US through JFK as that is the only POE that can issue you with something. Sorry for the complete vagueness of that question but, if all goes to plan, I'll be buying my ticket soon and would rather not go through there but was wondering if it was best to?

JFK seems to be the only PoE that will validate you as authorized to work during the 90 days the visa is valid. If you need to be employed immediately, JFK is the way to go. If you don't need to work right away, you can enter through any PoE you want.

As Ian said, that "something" you are referring to is the 90-day employment authorization stamp. Sometimes it's worth going through JFK to get it, sometimes not. Depends on your own case.

If you have a job lined up or you think you can get a job fairly quickly, that stamp is what you will show your employer that you are work authorized. If you don't have a job lined up, or you think your chances aren't good that you'll get employed pretty quickly, don't re-route your flight just to come through JFK. You'll wait for your 1-year EAD instead, which you apply for after getting married.
