Default Disappointed Texan in London

I visited London about this time several years ago, and had many frustrations:

1 Couldn't find ANY coverage of our March Madness college basketball tourney.
Wandered from pub to pub without HOPE

2 NO FREE REFILLS ON DRINKS.....ANYWHERE!!!

3 NO MEXICAN FOOD!!!!

4 NOBODY FILLED MY GLASS WITH ICE.......EVER

5 NO ICED TEA

6 NO COFFEE

7. TINY PORTIONS OF FOOD ON THE PLATE

But seriously, had a GREAT time! Almost got killed at speakers' corner in Hyde Park
when I waxed eloquent about why America was the greatest country in the world. LOVED
the desserts....LOVED the people...LOVED the trains....LOVED the museums and plays

Later.

Coming from Europe, the other perspective

I have 200 channels and there's nothing on. Not even on BBC America anymore. I
miss the BBC.

    > 2 NO FREE REFILLS ON DRINKS.....ANYWHERE!!!

You shouldn't drink that much coke anyway. And the beers are more expensive here than
what I was used to. Then again, you shouldn't drink that much beer anyway.

    > 3 NO MEXICAN FOOD!!!!

I agree. European Mexican food doesn't really exist. The guacamole at home was blue
more than green.

    > 4 NOBODY FILLED MY GLASS WITH ICE.......EVER

Never understood the ice thing. Still don't even though I'm used to it. My drink
seldomly warmed up in the time between getting it and drinking it. Now I just have
3/4 of my glass filled with ice so I actually need the free refills.

    > 5 NO ICED TEA

No coffee and tea in London? Or not the kind you are used to?

    > 7. TINY PORTIONS OF FOOD ON THE PLATE

Well sized portions. So you can eat all the food on your plate and not feel like
you're going to explode. You need a lot of restraint in the US. The food is good,
they just give you too much. I see a lot of people giving up before they get their
main course.

Having a great time here, apart from the INS horror. Moving to Texas next month
incidentally. Love it there : flat, some wind, clean, friendly people and you can
import Belgian Beers.

EastEnders is on BBC America. Watched it earlier today (12:00 to 14:30
PST).

I miss it as well. This is the reason I have not subscribed to the Comcast digital
