Hi, I was wondering if anyone know how long of a wait it is from the date of sending
in your AOS package to the actual interview date at the INS office in Detroit?
Anything extraordinary about the Detroit office? Quirks? Advice? Thanks!

If you came on a K-1 your best bet is to walk the AOS paperwork in - you'll get your
adjustment interview THAT DAY.

I'd say that's a great quirk to have

Wouldn't there be a HUGE LINE at the Detroits INS office if we could ALL do that
???????? Each day about 5000 people in front of the Detroit office......

Wow, would be cool huh? To go there if you live in Chicago........

Well, let me get you out of that dream......

NO YOU CAN NOT.........

Why? Because you have to apply at the INS District Office of the place WHERE YOU
LIVE......... Which is Chicago for you.......... And so, just like me, you have
to wait about 18-26 months for your AOS interview........ (I live in the Chicago
area too).

Unless you MOVE to Michigan and build up your life there. THEN you can apply at their
INS office. But I heard/read that MOVING can have some logistic problems with your
file sometimes. (NOT always of course)........

Anyways........ Good luck waiting.......... 1000's of us are in the same ship......

Bye,

Nope, I didn't apply for AP. Though, you have to apply for an AP IN PERSON. And that
only takes 1 to 2 days........ I think you get the AP while you are at the INS office
(chicago). You need a traveldate to apply for it though. Your departure should be
within 1 month. From what I read in this newsgroup is that you can 'virtualize' your
departure date. It seems they don't ask for a physical ticket to show. Just search
this newsgroup and you find enough hints and tips.
